🧺 A Magical Morning at Bartlett’s Farm: Pick Your Own Veggie Tour
If you’re planning a trip to Nantucket this summer, do yourself a favor and carve out a morning for Bartlett’s Farm. It’s just a quick ride from town, and it feels like stepping into a little slice of island magic—complete with sun-warmed tomatoes, rows of romaine, and the kind of peaceful quiet you only get in the middle of a field.
Bartlett’s is a seventh-generation family farm, growing produce on Nantucket since 1843. They’ve been practicing sustainable farming for decades—think crop rotation, organic compost, and even solar-powered greenhouses—and it shows in every bite of what you pick.
🌿 What to Expect
I went for their first Pick Your Own veggie tour of the season, and it was the perfect way to start a slow summer morning. You grab a bag, head into the fields, and harvest what’s ready to eat—right from the source. We picked a little bit of everything:
Green leaf lettuce
Green cabbage
Scallions
Beets
Radishes
Carrots
Broccoli
And the sweetest tomatoes (truly a highlight 🍅)
✨ Why I Loved It
It’s hands-on, in the best way—there’s something really satisfying about pulling carrots from the ground or tomatoes from the vine
The setting is beautiful and calm, perfect for soaking up summer vibes
You leave with a bag full of produce and inspiration
They offer these PYO tours every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday throughout the summer, and I can’t recommend it enough—whether you’re a plant-based cook, a garden lover, or just someone who loves a good Nantucket activity.
I already have a few ideas for recipes (beet hummus, roasted carrots with whipped plant-based ricotta, and a tomato bruschetta, obviously). Stay tuned to see what I whip up—and if you make it to Bartlett’s, let me know what you pick!
