The Turtle Club on Vanderbilt Beach: Naples, FL
Some meals are about the food. Some are about the setting. And every once in a while, you get both — which is exactly the case at The Turtle Club in Naples.
This beachfront spot sits directly on the sand at the Vanderbilt Beach Resort, and the setting alone is worth the trip — tables right on the beach, boats drifting by, and sunset views that make the whole meal feel like an occasion. It's the kind of place where you kick off your shoes, dig your toes into the sand, and let the view do half the talking.
What I ordered: Forbidden black rice risotto with broccolini, carrots, and brussels sprouts — a beautiful, vibrant plate that held its own against the view. The deep purple-black rice made for one of those dishes that's as pretty as it is satisfying, and it was the perfect lighter option on a seafood-and-steak-heavy menu.
What makes it special: It's rare to find a restaurant that nails both atmosphere and execution. The Turtle Club has built its name on fresh, area-sourced seafood and fine steaks, but what stood out to me was that a plant-forward dish still felt thoughtful and craveable here — not an afterthought on the menu. Add in the barefoot-on-the-beach setting and those famous sunset views, and it's easy to see why this has become one of Naples' most beloved spots.
If you're ever in Naples and want a meal that doubles as a moment, this is it. Sit outside, order something colorful, and stay for the sunset.
